Artist's Comments
The Horizons Portland paintings are part of a series that is eventually to includes views from Olympia, WA, and is to include those from Seattle, WA, Vancouver, BC, and Anchorage, AK. They reflect my fascination with the shapes formed where the earth meets the sky, and the way those shapes contribute to a sense of place, even when they are sometimes obscured by the city that occupies that space.
Horizons Portland - Northeast shows Mt. Adams behind the Cascade foothills. I keep being struck by what a truely volcanic landscape this is. Even without the conspicous mountains, all three views are full of the profiles of lava flows, and the breast shaped eroded cinder cones. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
